A Few Pointers on Wedding DJs and Discos

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

As we have been providing DJs for weddings and wedding discos for many years we consider ourselves very well placed to offer you our expertise and provide you with information. We are often asked by couples planning a wedding for our opinion on which entertainment to choose, it seems not everyone has all of their ideas clear from the outset. If you have thought about hiring a DJ and a disco for your wedding reception you will most likely have already been looking around and have a least a few ideas as to what you want. We would just like to offer our advice on a few points in order to prevent any simple errors.

  • Book through an entertainment agency; this will ensure that if even there is a problem on the day with the DJ (perhaps through illness) that they will be able to issue a replacement at short notice.
  • Get recommendations; whether this is through friends and family, or by looking at websites and seeking reviews this way. Bear in mind, no one can please all of the people all of the time but it will at least give you a basic idea of who is going to be right for you.
  • Liaise with the DJ beforehand; have a telephone conservation to ensure that any specific requests are acknowledged early. For example, you will know what you want your first dance song to be etc.
  • Get a written quote; this will ensure you know exactly what it is you are paying for and query anything you’re not happy with before the day.

When planning a wedding, you will be most likely be very enthusiastic and excited to learn all about discos on offer. By following a few simple guidelines it is easy to ensure a successful disco. Make certain that you don’t leave this to the last minute, as it shouldn’t be an afterthought. When planning for the intricacies of a wedding it can be tempting to take short cuts in any aspect of things happening on the day. This should be avoided.

You are able to see that a well experienced DJ can work under any amount of pressure. When difficulties occur at the last minute, they will be able to work through them and get them fixed. A DJ can show how important it is to put the happy couple’s needs first by giving them everything they need to ensure the event’s entertainment takes place successfully. A good DJ will show dedication and professionalism, which is a necessity in the entertainment industry.

We hope that by reading this blog you will have a better understanding that the wedding disco is as critical to your day as any other planned aspect of the wedding. It is wise for you to trust your wedding DJ, due to the simple fact that being a DJ is their chosen career and it’s what they do every week, every year, they are a professional in their field, and they make it their business to know all about wedding discos.

Wedding Discos & DJ Hire for You and Your Guests Entertainment

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Following on from our recent blog posts about Wedding Bands and Wedding Reception DJs we should move on naturally perhaps to a blog piece about Wedding Discos and how they can have a complete effect on your wedding as a whole.

We all know your wedding day is an important day, it marks the joining of two people in matrimony and it is an exciting but anxious time and for most it’s a step into the rest of their future together. Getting the whole day right is vital, however most of your guests will remember mainly the entertainment as that’s where every one of your guests will relax and of course is how your big day ends. Wedding Discos are certainly what some will consider as there’s lots of scope to mould the evening entertainment easily to suit your guests and your tastes.

Wedding discos of course aren’t to everybody’s tastes although they provide a simple solution and options vary hugely. Let’s take a look at some advice that I can offer when having wedding discos as one of your entertainment options:

Positives:

* Music can be moulded into celebrations to suit tastes and themes

* Era’s to be played can be chosen in advance

* DJs can mix the music playlist to suit the dancers on the floor at that time

* Its easy to alter the atmosphere and create a lively dance or a swaying romance theme with the push of a button and a bit of style on the decks

* Guests can request songs and the DJ will most likely have them in his collection

* Ideal choice for low budgets and top end DJs are always playing impressive sets

Negatives:

* Theres a typical wedding discos playlist that some DJs will insist on playing regardless of your theme

* Unless you plan methodically and communicate well there is a chance your DJ will slip into a general set that does not quite suit your requirements

* Bad wedding discos will be remembered longer than well planned and flowing ones

* Not all DJ hire will offer you a good tailored package

In summary the best thing I can tell you is to choose carefully, find providers of wedding discos that can tailor the evening to suit your wedding and not someone else’s. Pick those with good references (and take up some of those references if you can by contacting previous customers). Choose right and meet with your DJ early on so that you can rest assured that your wedding entertainment sits well with your plans and you’ll be left with good lasting memories of your fabulous day.
